      <image:caption>Jon Corbett is an Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia. His research has had significant impact beyond academia. This is best understood through the creation of Geolive. Geolive is a web and mobile-based participatory mapping tool developed under his supervision by a team of programmers at UBC Okanagan. The application allows users to create and share spatial information using a web-based map interface. To date, Geolive is being applied to 25 projects from Palawan in the Philippines to local forest fire issues in the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. The tool has received substantial media interest and has been featured, among other venues, in the Globe &amp; Mail as well as on Global TV and CBC Radio.</image:caption>
